Because local beer starts with local ingredients
Maritime craft brewers and distillers can now source base malts made from barley grown by NB farmers and processed in Petit-Paquetville NB. As grain crops in Western Canada are severely impacted by the extreme weather conditions of the past few years, local malt makes for a strong link in the supply chain for the province’s craft alcohol producers. With the construction of a malt house in 2020, hundreds of tonnes of malt that were imported annually from Western Canada are now substituted by local agricultural products.
