The painting by Liliane Riordon is inspired by the stories of Pierre à Jules Robichaud that tell a story of mutial aid between Acadians and Irish. According to Robichaud, Irish ships remained quarantined at sea for a whole winter, supplied by Acadians.
Some Irish had to leave their children with Acadian families because they were in such difficylty after this ordeal.
