Why Courailleuse?

Courailleuse is the one who seeks love affairs. This anise-flavored drink is enjoyed by a select number of people.

At the very beginning, when the Distillerie Fils du Roy was more an idea than a reality, the background was that the Distillerie Fils du Roy would be a distillery producing absinthe exclusively.

Absinthe is a spirit made from very bitter plants scientifically called “Artemisia absinthium”.

The 72% alcohol by volume has its reason. It is an interpretation of an original absinthe. At the time, green absinthe was colored by maceration of herbs (petite wormwood, grand wormwood, hyssop, lemon balm and others). In fact, the green is the chlorophyll of the plants used in its manufacture. For this color to be stable, its content must be 70% or more of alcohol by volume.

How to appreciate it?

To taste the Courailleuse, mix one volume with five volumes of water. In competitions, judges usually drink their absinthe at 12%. The higher the volume of alcohol, the more likely it is that some of the flavors will remain trapped in the alcohol. Once diluted with water, the flavors will be released and can be appreciated at their true value.

Our wish is that you too will fall under the charm of the courailleuse and that it can satisfy your curiosity.
